Introduction

Hello everyone. This is my first post on Medium.
I live in Tokyo, Japan, and have been working as a web developer for 13 years.

In Japan, programming becomes compulsory education from 2020. On the other hand, many adults in Japanese society have yet to know how to programming. Learning programming is not easy, but I think every adult should start learning programming.
Let me give you three reasons I believe you should start to learn programming.

Three reasons

  1. Programming has a great potential to improve your work

We can classify what we do at work into two categories.

  • one is job that requires human ideas and judgment.
  • another is job that does not requires human ideas and judgment.

The former can only be performed by humans. People are responsible for their work.
The latter is the job that computers are best at. Computers can work very fast and without errors when given the instructions. When an error occurs in computer processing, the cause is an instruction error of the person who issued the instruction.

2. If you can program, you will be an inventor, not a consumer

Currently, many products have built-in programming. For example, an air conditioner is connected to the Internet and can be operated remotely. If you find missing features, you can add new features by programming. And if it’s a feature that others also need, you might be able to sell it, if you were a programmer.

3. You can prepare yourself for the competition with programming-savvy youth in the future

Ten years later, those who have been programming since childhood will be working adults. Those who can program will have a much higher quality of work than those who cannot. Then, if you can use programming, you will be able to take advantage of your work experience.

Let’s start programming now

From now on, there will be more programmers. And that means more jobs that are premised on being able to program.
Studying programming gives you infinite possibilities.
